THE MOBILE INDUSTRY GUARANTEES THE NETWORK PREPARATION FOR THE 2020 ELECTIONS AND THE YULETIDE SEASON.
Accra, Dec 4, 2020 – The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications wishes to inform the general public that its members are taking the necessary steps and steps to provide resilient network quality across the country as the nation heads to the polls December 7, 2020 and the holiday season.
The Industry Association guarantee follows individual network audit evaluations conducted by its members. The result of the audits has led to numerous deployments and actions to ensure a stable network in all areas with possible massive meetings.
The industry is also partnering with law enforcement agencies to facilitate the patrolling of fiber infrastructure routes across the country. Similarly, the Chamber, through the National Engineering Coordinating Team (NECT), is hiring the Highway Agencies to suspend all construction works around the routes where there is critical public service infrastructure for the next two (2) weeks to protect the country from potential network outages.
Dr. Ing. Kenneth Ashigbey, Executive Director of the Chamber, has said that ‘these collaborations are to cement our efforts towards building a resilient network to support and enhance Ghana’s electoral process. We have secure and resilient systems to aid the smooth transmission of data and we are fully committed to the process, providing transparency to all our stakeholders to build on the trust of previous years. ‘
Beyond the elections, the industry will implement other critical interventions to support the holiday season. Customers are kindly requested to use digital channels 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, routes of call centers 24 hours, as well as service centers 24 hours a day, which will operate additional hours to support the overall customer service experience.
Finally, we would like to affirm that the mobile industry is committed to strict compliance with all of its licensing obligations, and therefore we will work closely with our Regulator, the National Communications Authority (NCA) during this unique period. We ask the public to stay safe and continue to comply with all COVID-19 protocols.
