President Akufo-Addo says he will accept the Ghanaians’ verdict after the December 7 elections.
“We are confident that we have a track record that will make Ghanaians vote to renew our mandate. As in 2016, we want this victory to be sweet and undeniable ”.
“I have said that we believe in the elections and I am happy to give my word that we will accept the verdict of the people of Ghana.”
“Above all, I promise that the peace, unity and security of Ghana will be our primary consideration,” the president said at the Presidential Election Peace Pact held in Accra on Friday.
For his part, NDC standard-bearer, former President John Mahama, who also pledged to peace, expressed concern about the government’s handling of the report by the Ayawaso violence commission.
“The reckless comments by leading members of the ruling party that the unfortunate events in Ayawaso West Wuogun were just a dress rehearsal for the actual elections do not inspire confidence for the holding of a peaceful election.”
“As we end our campaigns tomorrow and prepare to vote on Monday, I am committed to ensuring peace and preserving the stability of our beloved nation,” adding: “Elections are about counting heads, not cutting off heads. And so we will work for peace ”.
