Standard bearer of the National Democratic Party (NDCP), Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings has reiterated that her party’s stay continues in the presidential and parliamentary elections on 7 December.
She explained that her absence at the forefront of party activities in the Jubilee House race is part of her decision to mourn the death of her husband, former President Jerry John Rawlings.
Former President Rawlings died on November 12, 2020, after a brief illness at Korle-Bu University Hospital in Accra.
Three weeks later, the NDP presidential candidate explained that she will continue to lead the party “in a respectful but sensitive manner that gives my dear husband and Ghanaian society the necessary consideration in accordance with our traditions and cultural norms.”
He made these comments in a statement issued by NDP Secretary General Mohammed Frimpong on his behalf.
Ms. Agyeman-Rawlings further noted that “despite coordinated attacks by some elements of the NDC, a party he founded, to destroy his legacy before his untimely demise, he will always be remembered by posterity for his great and selfless contribution to that party and Ghana. “
However, he emphasized the NDP’s commitment to spearhead the NDP’s commitment to a better Ghana through industrialization and agricultural push if it is given the go-ahead in the upcoming elections.
“Our 2020 PND manifesto reflects the fundamental principles of our Party. We have promised the good people of Ghana to formulate and implement good policies to continue economic growth in a multidimensional approach supported by two areas, industrialization and agriculture, ”he said.
While expressing appreciation for the empathy and support shown by the public following the death of her husband, the NDP flag bearer warned that “as I go to the polls on December 7, it is my fervent prayer for a peaceful election in Ghana. without electoral violence. “
