Real Madrid, ready to sign Marcelo and Ramos, substitute
Two important Real Madrid players have decided to reject an offer from Ronaldo to join him at Juventus in the 2021 transfer window.
Real Madrid sold Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus two summers ago. It is fair to say that the Portugal international has managed to reach the heights expected in Italy, but he has yet to guide the Serie A champions towards the Champions League title. While Ronaldo has devised his exploits, the Bianconeri need much more to win the European Cup in the coming seasons.
Los Blancos’ greatest shooter of all time wanted Juventus to attack his former employers, but reports claim his wishes will not be honored. Isco and Sergio Ramos are the two players Ronaldo wanted at Allianz Stadium and their contrasting situations mean that they will be very open to transfers, albeit for different reasons.
Faced with the emergence of players like Federico Valverde and Martín Odegaard, Isco has seen his minutes numbered and his father has revealed that the player is open to moving to greener pastures. The Spaniard was a big part of the Whites’ success in the Champions League with Zinedine Zidane, but has lately fallen out of favor.
It is believed that Everton is haunting the services of the former Malaga midfielder, but what is clear is that Juventus will not get their hands on Isco. The 28-year-old is more inclined to join the Premier League and his departure from the Santiago Bernabéu seems imminent and only a matter of time.
On the other hand, Ramos sees his contract expire at the end of 2020/21 and can legally negotiate a contract with clubs outside of Spain in less than a month from now. The club and the captain were reportedly at a crossroads of contract renewal lately, with Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain keeping a close eye on the world-class center-back’s situation.
Florentino Pérez, however, is ready to finally fulfill Ramos’s wishes and grant him a two-year extension, which means he will remain at the club. As such, all things pointed to him staying and now the air seems to be clearer than before. The 34-year-old had used foreign interest as bait to renew in the past and this time it may have been similar as well.
It is surely a sigh of relief for Madrid that Ramos stays and that his Champions League brand does not join a direct rival.
