Gary Neville tells Man Utd chief Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to resist Odion Ighalo’s assessment

Gary Neville has warned Manchester United not to sign Odion Ighalo for £ 20 million.

The Nigerian striker has impressed in his brief time at Old Trafford since joining the club on loan in January, but his deal expires next month.

United hoped to extend that date even further to allow for the delay in completing the Premier League season due to the coronavirus.

In fact, the Red Devils were also considering signing Ighalo permanently this summer after being happy with his impact.

That might be the only way to keep the 30-year-old club at the club, with Shanghai Shenhua expecting a transfer fee of £ 20 million.

However, during an appearance in Instagram Live, Neville believes that United would be making a mistake if they sign Ighalo for the promoted valuation.

“Is Ighalo worth £ 20 million?” Neville said.

“Probably not in this market. You may have been if you had followed through before scoring goals, but you probably don’t need to spend £ 20m.”

Over the weekend, it emerged that Ighalo could be forced to miss out on some of Man Utd’s remaining matches, as Shanghai Shenhua expects the striker to return from his loan period for July.

According to Sky Sports, Ighalo could be called up again at the end of his loan contract, as Shenhua wants him ready in time for the Chinese Super League season, which begins in July.

Since the transfer window won’t open until the end of the season, Ighalo’s signing will likely require his loan to be extended, as well as a pre-contract agreement.

Then you could officially complete the change when the window reopens in the summer.
