Gary Neville issues Odion Ighalo transfer warning to Manchester United

Gary Neville admits that Odion Ighalo is probably not worth the rumored £ 20 million transfer valuation made by Shanghai Shenhua.

Ighalo has surprised many fans with his level of performance since he moved to Manchester United on loan in late January.

The Nigerian striker has scored four goals in eight appearances since joining United earlier this year, with his last strike against LASK in the Europa League on March 12, United’s last game before the season was suspended.

Neville admits that Ighalo was on his way to justify his strong summer price, but admits that the money could probably be spent elsewhere instead of making his loan contract permanent.

“Is Ighalo worth £ 20 million?” Neville asked on Instagram Live.

“Probably not in this market. You may have been if you had followed through before scoring goals, but you probably don’t need to spend £ 20m.”

The 30-year-old forward is on loan until May 31 and could be removed by his parent club with the Chinese Super League, which will now start in June or July.

United is open to extend Ighalo’s stay and the forward said he was open to sign for United permanently but had not received an offer.

“I would like to end the season if possible.” Ighalo told the BBC World Service last week. “I was in good shape, in good shape, scoring goals and now we have stopped for over a month. I have done my best and I hope to play again.”

“The team had a good momentum before the pandemic started. Right now I am on loan, and this will shorten my time at the club.”

“The club, myself, each footballer is going through many things because we cannot do what we love and what we know how to do better, so we are only thinking about that for now and finishing the season before starting to think about the contract” .
