The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai constituency, Mr. Alfred Obeng Boateng, has advised his constituents to refrain from voting “in a skirt and blouse” in the December elections.

According to him, ‘Skirt and blouse’, which means that a voter can vote for a presidential candidate in one party and vote for a different parliamentary candidate also in another party or vice versa, would not bode well in the current administration of politics.

He further explained that in Ghana’s hybrid democratic system, which is a combination of the UK and US system of government, the ruling party needs an absolute majority in parliament to run its business smoothly, so that the voting skirt and blouse can easily affect the government in the realization of its visions.

Mr Obeng-Boateng cited, for example, that a president with a minority in Parliament would be disastrous, a member of parliament whose party does not win the presidency also faces many difficulties in terms of getting enough development for his constituents.

The parliamentary candidate made the call during a rally in Sefwi Anhwiaso to raise public awareness of the tremendous achievement of the Akufo-Addo-led administration within four years in power and the need to keep the PNP in power.

He mentioned One District One Factory (1D1F), One Village One Dam (1V1D), Creation of new regions, provision of an ambulance for each district, scholarship package for tertiary education students, restoration of scholarships for teachers in training and nurses, plantation for food and employment program.

The others are NABCO, cocoa pollination, planting for export and rural development, free electricity and water bills and, above all, the introduction of the Free Senior High School policy that has come to reduce the financial burden of parents and guardians.

In this regard, he appealed to the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai people based on the numerous achievements of the PNP government and gave Nana Akufo-Addo the second term to transform Ghana and also vote for him as a deputy.
