The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana has pledged the Church’s unwavering support for the great vision of Methodist University College Ghana (MUCG).
The Rev. Dr. Paul Boafo, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana, urged all interested parties to join the Church in this effort.
Professor Baofo addressed the 18th MUCG Virtual Congregation in Accra.
He said that for 18 continuous years, University College has consistently trained brilliant students, who today hold various responsible leadership positions in the country as well as in several other African countries.
The presiding bishop said that these people were contributing enormously to the growth and development of their country.
“This has been possible as a result of the decision of the Methodist Church of Ghana at its 37th Annual Conference held in Sunyani in 1998, to establish a university college that will train the human resources necessary for the development of our country,” he said. additional.
He said it was time for the University to start offering programs that could be done online.
He said that COVID-19 has taught the country that “we have to get out of the old way of doing things and embrace the use of technology in our work.”
He urged graduates to make good use of the knowledge, skills, attitudes and training they have acquired in college, wherever they may be.
Professor Akawsi Asabere-Ameyaw, president of the MUCG, called on the 2020 graduate students to live a life of integrity, honesty and compassion.
“If it doesn’t feel right, don’t do it,” he said.
He urged them to take their time before making friends, not to accept unreasonable offers and to accept reasonable ones with care.
“Be cheerful, attractive, dedicate yourself to the responsibilities you agree to perform, and commit to your work,” he added.
The president asked them to be confident and to avoid overdependence on others, to “take their time to make all the important decisions in life and be responsible for those decisions.”
He asked them to always keep in mind that people would be watching and evaluating them and, at the appropriate time, they would judge them.
“Above all, study and know how to handle your boss and those close to you,” he advises.
He urged them to develop consistently and consciously, and move toward achieving their goals, “you can’t get there in a day or two and avoid shortcuts.”
He said that between now and December 7, 2020, “Let us continue to be aware that no place can be better than home.”
“Let’s observe peace, let’s preach peace and practice peace. Don’t let anyone use you,” he added.
