Ghana clubs open CAF competitions with draws

ACCRA, Nov.29 (Xinhua) – Two Ghanaian representatives in the African Football Confederation (CAF) Champions League and Confederation Cup began the competition with draws on Sunday.

At the CAF Confederation Cup, Ghana’s Ashanti Gold faced a goalless draw at home with Salitas of Burkina Faso in the first leg of the preliminary round.

The Ghanaian team failed to convert numerous opportunities into goals, especially in the second half.

Salitas will host Ashanti Gold in the second leg next week in Burkina Faso’s capital Ouagadougou.

Meanwhile, Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC managed a 1-1 draw against FC Nouadhibou of Mauritania in the first leg of the CAF preliminary round on Sunday.

The Ghanaian team was the first to score in the first minutes of the match, although the home team drew in the 21st minute with a penalty.

Kotoko will host the Mauritanian champions in the reverse game one week from now at Accra Sports Stadium. Final product
