The President’s Communications Director, Eugene Arhin, has said that demanding Ghanaians know which political party introduced the free upper secondary school (SHS) in Ghana and which one opposed its implementation.

He explained that in the run-up to the 2008, 2012 and 2016 elections, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its leaders bastardized Nana Akufo-Addo’s SHS-free promise.

His comments follow claims by NDC presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama that he started the Free SHS program.

“We started the program and the NPP came and continued it,” said the former president.

“Unfortunately, the implementation has been very poor, so we ended up on the double track. I assure you, compatriots, that within a year I will cancel the double track, ”he said in Tuobong, a community in the Tempane district of the Upper East region as part of his campaign tour.

But Mr. Arhin in a Facebook post said: “In the run-up to the 2008, 2012 and 2016 elections, the NDC and its leaders bastardized Nana Akufo-Addo’s Free SHS promise, describing it, in the words of the Hon. Fifi Kwetey, as “all-lie-be-lie”. Now they want to associate with your success?

“The Ghanaian voter is insightful. They know who spoke out and campaigned against the Free SHS policy; and they know who took office and made the bold decision to implement the policy. They will vote to protect Free SHS on December 7th, they will vote to protect their future ”.
