A 60-bed Twifo / Atti-Morkwa district hospital was opened yesterday in Twifo Praso in the central region to provide better health care to people in the community.
It has 28 medical and non-medical buildings in an area of 15,000 square meters, a staff accommodation of 10 units, a 60-bed room, including four theaters, a central kitchen, landscape and a 635-meter walkway, among others.
It has outpatient services such as dental clinic, medicine, cardiology, ophthalmology, pediatrics, gynecology, general surgery, and orthopedic departments.
The new hospital also features a morgue, a medical waste treatment department, a hospital information system, and internal and external CCTV systems, as well as a fully equipped intensive care unit (ICU).
In addition, it has a medicinal gas plant for the production of medicinal gases, a sterilization department, a library, training and conference rooms, and a laundry.
Fifth hospital project
The hospital is part of the Hospital Project initiated by the Government of Kufuor in 2008 and implemented by Euroget of Egypt.
In inaugurating the project, President Akufo-Addo said that this is the fifth hospital under the Hospital Project that will be inaugurated and will provide quality medical care to the people of the area and the surrounding communities.
He explained that the entire project involved the construction and equipping of a military hospital, two regional hospitals and six district hospitals for a total cost of $ 339 million.
Maintenance
President Akufo-Addo urged hospital administrators to institute strict maintenance protocols to ensure that decades later the facility is in good condition to provide medical care to people because they have been insured at great cost to the taxpayer.
He said the government’s goal was to establish a strong health service delivery system that served people efficiently.
Recruitment
The president further noted that since taking office in 2017, the government had provided financial authorization for the employment of more than 90,000 health workers and ensured that with four more years, people would benefit more.
Minister
Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman-Manu said that the Kufuor administration secured the land and funds before leaving office, but that the project was not completed until President Akufo-Addo made the decision to complete those projects as part of government efforts to improve healthcare delivery. .
Euroget
Eurojet Invest CEO Dr Said Deraz commended President Akufo-Addo for his commitment to the completion of the project.
He said the company entered the Ghana market due to the favorable climate for investors in the country, adding that it was donating an ambulance as its symbol for the people of the area.
