Premier League clubs should observe a minute of silence in honor of soccer legend Diego Armando Maradona, who passed away on Wednesday 25 November 2020. This is a directive from the governing body of world soccer, FIFA.
Diego Maradona, who died at age 60, succumbed to heart failure. Regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the game, Maradona became a household name after inspiring his country to World Cup glory.
On November 25, football lost one of its great icons, Diego Armando Maradona. Around the world, there is a sense of deep loss over the untimely passing of a true legend of the game. It is no exaggeration to say that football will not be the same without him. We will be forever grateful for the contribution he made to our sport and will be greatly missed.
” In honor of Diego Armando Maradona and in solidarity with his family and with all those who loved him so much, the flags at FIFA headquarters are waving at half-staff, and FIFA asks all competition managers to keep a minute of silence at every football game next weekend or the next possible occasion, ” a FIFA statement reads.
The directive means a minute’s silence will be observed this weekend at all Premier League centers.
