Tunisian giant Al Ahly has claimed his ninth CAF Champions League title after beating rival Zamalek in the 2019/20 CAF Champions League final in Cairo.

Al Ahly started the first ten minutes on a very high note, increasing the pressure on their archrivals.

In the fifth minute, a center from Tunisian international Ali Maloul was greeted by Amr Al Sulaya right on the first pole, who headed into the net to put the Red Devils ahead.

Jaime Pacheco and his charges responded quickly by attacking with the intention and purpose of achieving a tie.

Mahmoud Shikabala connected very well with Ben Charki on a quick one-to-two pass, but the skipper’s effort went straight into the arms of Egypt’s No.1 Mohammed El Shenawy.

Finally, the tie came in the 30th minute, Shikabala’s experience controlled a pass from Bencharki down the left wing, faced three defenders and sent a bolt that went straight to the upper left corner to return Zamalek to equality.

In the final 15 minutes, both teams demonstrated something different with the dominant White Knights, but all efforts were sneaky.

The first half of the match ended in a draw at the Cairo International Stadium.

In the second half, the White Knights started very well with good preparation, a long pass from Ferjani Sassi fell on Mustapha Mohammed but his effort was calmly picked up by El Shenawy.

In the 50th minute, another good control from Sayed Zizou, who ran into the penalty area, but his effort was cut off by Mohammed Hany.

Ajayi with a quick one-to-two connection with Ali Maloul, who sent a ground inswinger, Hussein El Shahat went alone at the far post, but hit him off the posts and was then cleared by Mahmoud Alaa.

Injury concern for both teams at one point as Mahmoud Shikabala and Junior Ajayi left the field due to injuries, replaced by Kasongo and Gerardo Da Costa respectively.

A good run from Sayed Zizou’s sergeant, he sends out a fantastic long-range shot, but his effort went off the post, just unfortunate!

Mohammed Magdy’s sumptuous rocket went straight into the upper right corner to make it 2-1 in favor of the Red Devils.

Al Ahly is the 2019/20 CAF Champions League champion, taking it for the ninth time.

A historic feat for coach Pitso Mosimane, the first South African to win the CAF Champions League with a foreign club.
