Four key games to watch out for on matchday three

[ad_1]

The Ghana Premier League begins to take shape as the third round of matches approaches.

The four matches we chose last week saw 11 goals, two doubles, a 97-minute draw and Goran Barjaktarević sacked.

Asante Kotoko and AshGold will be assigned to Africa when the preliminary stages of the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup kick off this weekend.

However, these are the four key games that you cannot miss:

Legon Cities vs Medeama

The Legon Cities start a new era after Goran Barjaktarević was fired for the week. The new coach in charge is the experienced Bashir Hayford.

Next up for the Royals is a tough draw at home against Medeama SC. The Mauves and Yellows have been struggling to get in shape after being promoted as title favorites before the start of the season.

Samuel Boadu’s men have scored just one point in their first two games and will be looking for their first three points.

Boadu attributed his loss to Dreams FC on the final matchday to “a lack of focus” and promised his team will improve before the Legon Cities game.

The Legon Cities themselves will also be eager for a strong performance as they continue their quest for a top four result in the league this season.

Captain of the Accra-based team, Fatau Dauda urged his teammates to work hard to turn their fortunes around.

“We need to work harder before we can beat Medeama. It’s possible. We know it’s a good team, that’s why we have to work hard because it won’t be easy, ”said the veteran goalkeeper.

The Royals will know that they will need to play over themselves if they want to get anything from Friday’s game.

Medeama comfortably beat Legon Cities 2-0 at the Accra sports stadium when the two teams met last season.

Stadium: Accra Sports Stadium, Accra

Time: Friday, 18:00 GMT

Prediction: 1-2 Medeama SC, Legon Cities

Inter Allies vs Heart of Oak

It has been a difficult start for the Inter Allies who sit in the relegation zone with one point from two games.

One of the factors in Henrik Lehm’s poor start to the season was a lack of goals. Last season, former forwards Victorien Adebayor and Samuel Armah contributed to 18 of the team’s 23 goals.

Inter’s allies will look to score their first goal of the season when they host Hearts of Oak at the Accra sports stadium.

The Phobians drew 2-2 with AshGold in the first game of the season on matchday two.

Coach of Hearts, Nii Odoom was not satisfied with his team’s conversion rate as he felt that his team should have killed the game against AshGold by taking a chance.

Man of the match, Patrick Razak, was a rip in the flesh of the Miners ‘defense and will be the Hearts’ outing when they face a certain Inter Allies team.

Stadium: Accra Sports Stadium, Accra

Time: Sunday, 18:00 GMT

Prediction: Inter Allies 1-3 Hearts of Oak

WAFA vs Elmina Sharks

WAFA is looking to get back on track after a setback against Bechem United on Matchday 2.

The Academy boys are back on their own turf, where they beat King Faisal 4-3 in the first week of the Ghana Premier League.

The Sharks, meanwhile, are undefeated in the Ghana Premier League after posting two draws so far.

The Fearsome Sharks will also be looking for their first win of the season, but they know it will be a tough task considering WAFA’s home form.

WAFA dominates the head-to-head having won two of the last four meetings against the Sharks, losing just once.

Stadium: Red Bull Arena, Sogakope

Time: Sunday, 15: 00GMT

Prediction: WAFA 2-1 Elmina Sharks

Karela United vs Dreams

Both teams have had an impressive start to the season so far with four points each and are at the top of the table together.

Karela scored a notable point against Medeama in Tarkwa, before sidelining the Inter Allies in their second match.

Dreams FC started with a disappointing goalless draw against Inter Allies at Accra Sports Stadium, but they managed to beat Medeama 2-1 in Dawu.

Dreams’ new signing, Joseph Esso, will be one to watch out for. He was at the center of the Still Believe boys’ attack when they defeated Medeama at the Theater of Dreams.

For Karela, Diawisie Taylor has been her main threat with the forward scoring two goals so far this season.

Karela leads the head-to-head record, never losing a game to Dreams. Three of the games between the two clubs ended in a draw with Karela winning the remaining game.

Both sides know that a win could make them dark horses in the title race this season.

Stadium: Cosby Awuah Memorial Park (CAM) in Nzema-Aiyinase

Time: Sunday, 15:00 GMT

Prediction: Karela 1-1 Dreams FC
