Four people have been granted a bond in the amount of GH ¢ 5,000 each with two bonds each by the Enchi District Court of First Instance for allegedly stealing parts of excavators valued at GH ¢ 20,000.00.
Kofi Baah, 28, small-scale miner, Kwame Prince, 25, farmer, Kwame Amoah, 24, bricklayer, and Ibrahim Mohammed, 27, scrap metal dealer, all residents of Enchi in Aowin Township.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges of conspiracy to commit crime, robbery and dishonest reception.
They are expected to reappear on December 4 before the court chaired by Eric Baah Boateng.
Prosecuting, said Detective Inspector Joseph Kwadwo Agyare, the plaintiff is the manager of Collins Ventures, an excavator rental company in Achimfo and that two weeks ago he changed the engine of one of his company’s excavators and was preparing to remove the Old engine parts from the site.
According to him, on October 20, 2020, the whistleblower had a tip that Baah, Prince and Amoah had broken into the company’s premises and stolen an excavator engine, alternator, starter, injectors, four heavy-duty batteries and injector. pipes worth GH ¢ 20,000.00.
The prosecution said that the author reported the robbery to the Ghana Police Service in Enchi and the three were arrested.
Detective Inspector Agyare said Baah then took police to Mohammed’s store, where some of the stolen items were recovered.
The prosecution said that on October 27 Mohammed was also arrested and, after investigations, the defendants were charged with the crime and prosecuted.
