Martin Braithwaite became the second Danish player to participate in three goals in a single Champions League match

Barcelona confirmed their qualification for the last 16 of the Champions League by beating Dynamo Kyiv in Group G.

Despite letting Lionel Messi rest for the tip to Ukraine, it was a pleasant night for Ronald Koeman’s team, who have won all four of their group games.

Sergino Dest’s effort provided the first goal, while Martin Braithwaite scored twice.

French striker Antoine Griezmann finished off the scoring at the end.

What can be decided in the Champions League this week?

With Argentina’s Messi among several key players absent, Koeman named Barça’s youngest XI Champions League starter since December 6, 2011.

And they rarely seemed to give up an unbeaten record of 23 group stage matches dating back to a loss to Manchester City in November 2016.

Rookie Oscar Mingueza, 21, seemed confident in his role as a substitute for Gerard Piqué, while players like Francisco Trincao, Junior Firpo and Carles Alena also impressed.

In his first start to the campaign, Denmark forward Braithwaite also made an excellent contribution: he set up the first goal, held on to Mingueza’s shot for the first, then won and converted a penalty for the second.
