‘Agya Pa Ye’: ‘Dumsor’ Resolved and Electricity Rates Reduced | Characteristics

[ad_1]

The PNP government, under the able leadership of President Akufo-Addo, has made steady progress and weaned the country from the terrible dummors left to it by the Mahama-led administration, under whose tenure many industries and companies were burdened with skyrocketing electricity rates. and unreliable. electricity flow due to frequent power rationing and outages that nearly brought our industrial economy to its knees.

The narrative regarding the dumsor regime led by Mahama is rather the opposite today and industries have been freed from the thoughts of losing their investments due to high overhead costs, low productivity and excessive debt portfolio that needed to be serviced. . Many of the industries had to borrow to buy larger power plants for production with their associated cost of maintenance and fuel consumption, while those who could not afford to buy these expensive power plants along with their frequent maintenance or they couldn’t sustain the cost implication, they had to close their businesses.

Many workers had to be laid off to make room for scarce resources to be used to manage the rising cost of staying in production. These affected industrial workers and their dependents will not soon forget how their fate changed overnight due to the utter incompetence of the then NDC government.

The agenda of much needed transformation to move this country of what President Akufo-Addo described as ‘Guggisberg economy’ to an ‘economy industrial base’ would not have taken off without a constant and stable supply of electricity. Today, Ghanaians from all walks of life are witnessing the many industries that are sprouting up across our country. Many of the existing crippling industries are now in shape and expanding with the help of other government support; this could not have been possible in a ‘dummy economy’.

To further dampen these industries, the government since 2018 has reduced electricity rates by 20% for industrial customers (customers with rates special charge) and 10% for miners to allow them to reduce their overall costs, become competitive and to be able to provide jobs to many. Ghanaians. It is trite that electricity remains cheaper and more reliable under President Akufo-Addo.

It is instructive to state that for nearly 4 years of President Akufo-Addo’s stewardship and prudent management of the energy sector, Ghana has not since experienced any form of “dumsor” in which electricity must be rationed.

It could be said that, under the Fourth Republic, no government has been able to escape the perennial energy crisis. However, the same cannot be said under the rule of Akufo-Addo: the curse has been broken and the records are clear for all to see. This enviable feat is only the result of the courage and competence that has been demonstrated within the energy sector.

Ghana continues to witness an influx of industries and businesses across the country. This would not have been possible without sustained availability of electricity.

The election of the next president of our republic should not be too difficult. It’s a simple choice between keeping reliable free / reduced electricity or returning the ‘dumsor’.

The Akufo-Addo government has demonstrated beyond all its ability to manage, improve and sustain the energy sector of our country.

Your vote is expensive: vote wisely, vote Akufo-Addo and the nuclear power plant to enjoy an uninterrupted power supply.
