Retired referee RTK Attifu criticized Asante Kotoko’s coach Maxwell Konadu for criticizing referee Daniel Laryea after his team’s 1-1 draw with Berekum Chelsea, sarcastically telling the coach to analyze his tactics before expressing frustration with the referees.
Asante Kotoko has had a rocky start to the season, unable to win any of their first two games despite drawing first blood in those matches.
The Porcupine Warriors were fortunate enough to escape a loss to Techiman Eleven Wonders in Week 1 of the campaign.
In the match, Asante Kotoko took a lead against the game’s streak before Wonders, who were by far the better team, rallied to pick a draw on Samuel Okraku’s second goal.
Asante Kotoko traveled to Berekum Golden City Park to face Chelsea on Matchday 2 on Sunday.
The Reds had a good first half, beating Kwame Pokua’s goal, but again failed to watch the game when Chelsea tied on the last shot of the match through substitute Emmanuel Clottey.
During the team’s post-match press, Konadu indicated that referee Daniel Laryea made a poor decision that resulted in his team’s last gasp goal.
However, Attifu, which is Ghana’s National Association of Referee Physical Instructors, has advised Konadu to “shut up” and work on his tactical approach to the games.
“You have ninety minutes to play more extra time and the referee made numerous decisions with which you have no problem, but a decision that was against you is the one you want to talk about. Attifu asked questions on Atinka FM.
“If that decision were in Kotoko’s favor, would you say the decision was wrong? I mean sometimes we want to blame, look at your tactics, are your tactics good anyway during the ninety minutes? Were you first in your tactics? Were you moving forward as you should?
“Your tactical game, how much percentage will you give yourself against your opponent? Your comment is not a comment that should be insightful to the referee because by disrespecting the referee you are disrespecting the game. Soccer is governed by law ”, concluded Attifu.
