The Vice Minister of Information, Pius Enam Hadzide, praised the Electoral Commission for its conduct before the general elections.
Two weeks (14 days) remain for the presidential and parliamentary elections to be held on Monday, December 7, 2020 in more than 30,000 polling stations across the country.
Twelve political parties will compete for the presidential seat.
However, the main contest is firmly believed to be between the two largest political parties, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
This year’s election is historic, as it is the first time that a sitting president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has been challenged by a former president, John Dramani Mahama.
The Electoral Commission (EC) is already prepared to carry out the elections and, as part of the measures to demonstrate its neutrality and credibility, has provided an electronic copy of the voter registration to the general public for verification and rectification and also for ensure that the voter who registered their name is registered in the registry.
Talking to Kwami Sefa Kayi in “ Kokrokoo ” in Peace FM, Pius Enam Hadzide trusted the EC to carry out free and fair elections.
It held that the EC, in particular, make available to the public the electronic copy of the record is “a sample of the high level of transparency and openness that the Electoral Commission is exhibiting ”.
For him, he has no doubts about the competence of the Commission.
“I am reassured by the conduct of the Electoral Commission. I am reassured by the leadership of the Election Management Task Force led by the IGP with soldiers and the Fire Service as part of it … I feel that all stakeholders are playing their part . We beg our political parties to bring order to our members and supporters, “he added.
