President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commended the first group of recipients of the free upper secondary school policy for the “excellent” results they achieved on the 2020 West African High School Certification Exam (WASSCE).
“I have been reliably informed that Aburi Girls Senior High School’s WASSCE results, and indeed all SHS 2020 graduates, were extremely impressive. Those who claimed that the policy was not feasible must be very ashamed now. I will leave that conversation for now so that we can discuss it another day, ”he added.
President Akufo-Addo delivered the eulogy on Monday when he addressed the leaders, the people and the large number of supporters of the PNP party on the last day of his 2-day tour of the Eastern Region.
A large number of former students who benefited from politics were present at the meeting.
Results from the WASSCE 2020 indicate that more than 50 percent of the candidates who took the exam scored A1-C6 in all core subjects.
A more detailed analysis of the 2020 results revealed that the achievement in mathematics and English were the highest, registering 65.71 and 57.34 percent, respectively. Social studies and integrated science recorded 64.31 and 52.53 percent, respectively.
The data also shows that about 60% of the 342,500 candidates who wrote the WASSCE, representing more than 200,000, scored between A1 and C6 in their best six subjects, including English and math, which qualifies them for tertiary education.
Evaluation
President Akufo-Addo asked Ghanaians to evaluate him based on the promises he made in 2016 and the performance of his administration over the past four years.
He expressed his confidence that the people of Ghana who witnessed and benefited from the policies would renew their mandate with greater margin.
Approval
Otobuor Gyan Kwesi, the Aburihene, urged the people to vote for President Akufo-Addo who, according to him, was a son of the earth and had served his term with excellence.
