The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, retired from the presidential race on December 7, 2020.

Sources close to his office have told Graphic Online that the NDP has not communicated any decision to withdraw from the race to the Election Commission as speculated.

Checks by Graphic Online in the Electoral Commission (EC) has also indicated that this letter had not been received until 11:30 am on Monday, contrary to what was reported by some media.

A high-level source in the EC told Graphic Online that as of close of business on Friday, no such letter had been received.

Similarly, at 11:30 am on Monday, November 23, 2020, no such letter had been received from the NDP.

Reports had suggested that the NDP presidential candidate was withdrawing from the race due to the sudden death of former president JJ Rawlings, who was the husband of the presidential candidate, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings.

The NDP has scheduled a press conference today at 2pm at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.
