A prominent member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (PNP), Gabby Okyere-Darko, accused the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of trying to use the death of former President Jerry John Rawlings to woo Ghanaians ahead of the December 7 general election. .

According to him, the NDC has failed to convince Ghanaians to believe in its campaign message, one reason why they are turning to the disappearance of their founder to win the sympathy of the electorate.

The NDC has blamed the Akufo-Addo-led government for the cammandeering preparations for Mr. Rawlings’ funeral regardless of the party he founded.

They also alleged that the NPP prevented their standard bearer John Mahama from signing an open book of condolences in memory of the NDC founder.

But speaking at the campaign launch of Central Wa NPP parliamentary candidate Hajia Humu Awudu, Mr. Gabby Okyere-Darko opined that the NDC humiliated and rejected its late founder when he was alive and therefore lacks moral baseness to take center stage. in his final funeral rites.

”His Excellency was a hero. Unfortunately, his own group reduced him from hero to zero. The party he founded with his wife, they reduced Jerry John Rawlings and his wife from heroes to zero. And now that he’s dead, they want to use him to resurrect their dying campaign and call him a hero. ”

Mr. Otchere-Darko argued that the NDC should have made peace with the former first family prior to his death.

“They should have made it up to him and his family when he was alive. Do not denigrate him when he is alive and celebrate him again when he is dead for your selfish ends.

Gabby accused residents of the Upper West region of not risking their fate in the December general election by voting for the NDC.
