Raheem Sterling “will be offered a new contract and a significant salary increase” from Manchester City to ensure the England star is with the club during the peak years of his career.

City will reportedly prioritize new deals for Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne after manager Pep Guardiola committed to the club until 2023.

Talks to secure the future of Belgian De Bruyne at the Etihad Stadium are progressing well and he is expected to sign a contract worth £ 350,000 a week until 2025.

And the Sunday Mirror reports on City’s hopes that Sterling, 25, will also extend his contract following the news from Guardiola.

Sterling’s current £ 300,000 a week still has more than two years to run, but City believe there is still much more to come as its market value increases.

He has become a world-class player during Guardiola’s time at the helm. Having scored 10 goals in the manager’s first season, Sterling has returned 23, 25 and 31 goals, winning two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and three League Cups.

His importance to City is underscored by the fact that he has been involved in each of their games so far this season, starting all three in the Champions League and seven of eight in the Premier League.

Sterling has scored five times so far and contributed four assists.

He was a late substitute in Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur and returned early from international service for England.
