Election 2020: Agogomanhene blesses Mahama

Ahead of the December 7 elections, Nana Kwame Akuoku Sarpong, Agogomanhene, has offered his blessings to John Dramani Mahama, presidential candidate of the Democratic National Congress (NDC).

It was then that Mr. Mahama paid him a courtesy visit at his Agogo Palace as part of the NDC campaign tour of the northern Asante Akyem constituency of the Ashanti region.

“I give you my blessings. I support you because I have worked with you before. I have known you for a long time,” said Nana Akuoku Sarpong.

The Omanhene reported that he and Mr. Mahama had worked together under former Presidents Jerry John Rawlings and John Evans Atta Mills.

He said he had also worked with former President Mahama during his first term, adding that his doors were open to all presidential candidates.

Mahama, for his part, said that during the 2012 elections, he was in the Agogo Palace and Omanhene gave him his blessing and in the end he was victorious.

“However, during the 2016 elections, when I arrived in Agogo, Omanhene was not present to offer me his blessings and I ultimately lost the election.”

Mr. Mahama expressed the hope that once Nana Akuoku Sarpong had blessed him again and with God’s help, he would be victorious in the December 7 elections.

He expressed his gratitude to the Agogomanhene for his blessings; saying; “Once we are victorious, we will give thanks again.”
