Luka Jovic has tested positive for the coronavirus after his return from international service and will not be at Zinedine Zidane’s disposal for Real Madrid’s duel against Villarreal on Saturday.

Eden Hazard, Casemiro and Eder Militao also contracted COVID-19 in recent weeks, but they all tested negative and will be available for the game at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

Jovic will now go into self-isolation, unable to train with the rest of his teammates until he tests negative again.

The Real Madrid forward appeared to be rediscovering his form in the international break when he scored three goals for Serbia in the UEFA Nations League.

Jovic tested negative at first, but after three of his teammates Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Derko Lazovic and Dorde Nikolic, as well as a physiotherapist from Serbia tested positive for the virus, Real Madrid awaited the latest results.

Meanwhile, Karim Benzema trained individually in the last session prior to the Villarreal clash and that means that Mariano Díaz is the only forward available for Saturday’s match.
