According to BBC Sport, Liverpool tried to sign Real Madrid wonder boy Marvin Park while he was at Tranmere Rovers.
Park, 20, has enjoyed a great season with Zinedine Zidane, making his full debut for Los Blancos after helping Madrid lift the UEFA Youth League in August.
The Spain Under-19 international was originally in Tranmere and moved to England with his parents at age nine and remained with the club until age 16.
He then moved back to his native Spain after a change in family circumstances and is flourishing upon arrival with the 13-time European Cup champions.
So here’s a little look at what we know so far about Youngster Park before Liverpool’s interest became public …

1) Park spent three years rapidly ascending the youthful sides of Tranmere. At age nine, Park was first moved to the U-10 category, before he was quickly moved up to another age group. Even with boys two years older than him, the coaches of his youth teams admitted that he “still found it easy.”
2) Despite making an impression in the North West of England, Park, mysteriously, when he had reached Prenton Park, disappeared back to the Balearic Islands without saying goodbye.
3) Born in the Majorca capital Palma to a Nigerian father and a South Korean mother, Park had three nations fighting for his services. In January 2019, he accepted the invitation to play for the Spanish Under-19 team, making a cameo appearance during a 3-0 loss to Italy.
4) On his return to Real Madrid, Park was a regular in the Under-19s during the 2019/20 campaign, winning the prestigious UEFA Youth League in August under legendary striker Raúl.
5) Park scored the first goal in the quarter-finals against Inter Milan before providing both goals in the club’s semi-final victory over RB Salzburg. Park also recorded another assist in the final when Madrid beat Benfica.
Taking his chance
Park made his full debut for Madrid under the most dramatic circumstances during the club’s La Liga opener this season.
With 20 minutes remaining, the Spanish champion needed a goal not to lose points in her first game of the season. Instead of investing in £ 50 million [BBC] Striker Luka Jovic, Zidane sent out the talented, but very inexperienced, Park.
The youngster’s talent could not be overlooked and he became the first player on the youth team to receive a Zidane debut since the 2017/18 season, when the legendary French icon world champion promoted his son Luca to the first team.

Speaking about Park’s incredible rise to the top of European football, the Tranmere academy coach has especially praised the club’s former students.
“His development was unreal,” he told BBC Sport.
“There was interest from Liverpool, Everton, Wigan, Blackburn and Manchester United
“If he had stayed in England, the big clubs would have come looking for him.”
