Jack Army Chief Offers New Insights On 30-Year-Old Man Who Withdrawn From Black Stars’ Afcon 2022 Qualifying Trip To Sudan
Swansea City manager Steve Cooper has allayed concerns about the fitness of Ghana striker Andre Ayew ahead of Saturday’s championship meeting with Rotherham United.
The 30-year-old suffered an injury while on international service with Ghana last week, shortening his stay with the Black Stars and forcing him out of the fourth qualifying day of the 2022 African Cup of Nations (Afcon) in the home clash with Sudan. The captain’s absence was greatly missed when CK Akonnor’s side fell in a 1-0 loss at Omdurman, their first qualifying group loss.
It was reported that he would face four weeks on the sidelines after his impromptu exit from the Ghana field, just days after scoring a double to secure a 2-0 home win in the first meeting with the Sudanese.
Swansea will face Rotterdam United in Week 12 at Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

“Andre and Marc came back early from international duty, that was a precaution more than anything else,” Cooper told reporters ahead of Sunday’s league game, his club’s official website reported.
“We have obviously had a very busy schedule and they have played every minute of every league game so far.
“Then they went into a full international camp, so naturally they will be tired and, like everyone else, they will be at risk of fatigue.
“Due to fatigue you may start to feel some muscle tension and pain, so they came back early as a precaution.
“They are doubts for the weekend, but we still have not made a final call.”
Ayew has been instrumental in Swansea’s quest for the Premier League promotion.
This season, the former Olympique de Marseille player has played 11 games in the Championship so far, scoring five goals. His scoring journey places him as the club’s top scorer so far this season.
The situation is no different than last season when he scored 16 goals in 46 league games for the Jack Army, propelling the team to the semi-final of the promotion play-off.
His exploits earned him the top scorer and most valuable player awards at the club’s end-of-season awards gala.
