The experienced journalist Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has sent his condolences to the family of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings.

Former President Jerry John Rawlings passed away at Korle-Bu University Hospital on Thursday, November 12, 2020, after a brief illness.

Mr. Rawlings was loved by members of his political party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and some Ghanaians, but there were also some people who did not see him face to face.

Kweku Baako is among the people who had personal problems with the late statesman.

In contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo,” Mr. Baako was asked how he received the news of Jerry John Rawlings’ passing.

In his reply he said; ” We are all humans. So if a human is dead, how much more a former president and head of state over a combined 19-year period. It was sad, unfortunate even though we’ve all moved on. First, I wish President Rawlings to rest in peace. I wish the family the deepest condolences. ”

“Death is painful. However, it is a leveler, but it is somewhat painful … He is a former president, whether you like it or not. Nineteen (19) solid years, like it or not, has impacted positively or negatively or both about our contemporary history ”, he added.
