Here are five MVP candidates for Real Madrid in 2019-2020.
CDM Casemiro
Casemiro has to be the first name mentioned among Real’s most valuable players this season, because it’s hard to imagine the team working without him. Casemiro, the world’s best defensive midfielder, eliminated Lionel Messi in the second Clásico, aiding Real’s effort in an impressive 2-0 clean sheet over his bitter rivals.
Real, in fact, kept five sheets clean in total against rivals Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid in 2019-2020, with Case playing a key role in all of those games. The tireless midfielder also helps on offense, as evidenced by his assist for Rodrygo Goes’ debut goal or his crucial key in a 2-1 win over Sevilla.
It can be argued that Casemiro was the most valuable player in La Liga overall after only Lionel Messi. It’s a pity that defensive midfielders don’t get as much love, because Casemiro is one of the best players in the world in any position.
