At the end of the much anticipated elections on December 7, 2020, President Akufo-Addo was the winner with 6,730,587, representing 51,302% of the total votes cast.
This is his second victory in a general election after losing the 2008 and 2012 elections.
Thus, he will serve as President of the Republic for another four years.
More than 13,119,460 eligible Ghanaian voters came out to vote in the respective 275 constituencies.
The top five Regions that rescued NPP by popular vote include the Ashanti, Bono, Central, Eastern and Central Regions.
The breakdown below:
Ashanti region
President Akufo-Addo, with 1,795,824 votes in the Ashanti region, surpassed John Dramani Mahama, who obtained 653,149 of the total votes cast in the region.
In the Ahafo region, President Akufo-Addo won the presidential elections with 145,584 votes, followed by John Dramani Mahama with 116,485.
Bonus Region
In the Bono Region, the PNP obtained the maximum number of votes with a total of 292,604 votes cast in its favor, while the NDC obtained 203,329 votes.
Central region
President Akufo-Addo swept 613,804 votes in the Central Region, while NDC’s John Dramani Mahama garnered 538,829 votes.
Eastern region
In the Eastern Region, President Akufo-Addo obtained 752,061 votes against 470,999 votes for John Mahama.
