In a separate development, the ruling New Patriotic Party (PNP) has said that no amount of “whining” can change President Nana Akufo-Addo’s victory in the recently concluded general election.
The president of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, declared Akufo-Addo the winner of the presidential race in the elections on Monday, December 7, 2020.
Mahama rejected the result as fundamentally flawed. He said the statement was a clear violation of the law because the commission did not follow established rules for conducting the elections.
PNP Secretary General John Boadu said the president emphatically won the election. The vote difference between the two candidates is 517,231 with four percentage points, one of the highest since 1996.
According to Boadu, Ghanaians do not know how a vote difference of 517,231 can be considered contentious.
