Hakim Isharck, a 22-year-old boy from Gomoa Ojobi in the central region’s Gomoa East District makes history by being crowned the best general farmer in the Gomoa East District in the recently concluded 36th National Farmer’s Day celebration.

Hakim Isharck is a former student at Swedru Senior High School and is currently a level 200 student at Presbyterian College of Education, Akropong-Akuapem. He studied Business at the upper secondary level and currently reads B. Ed Mathematics and ICT. With his background in education, many people have praised him for winning the award for best overall farmer at a very young age, especially when they found out that he does not have a certificate in agriculture, but a background in business and mathematics.

Speaking to the writer who happens to be a close friend and former classmate at Swedru Senior High School, he said he was born into a farming family and that has helped him do more. He also noted that he started his own farm on just 100 gh about a decade ago and that the profits from his farm are what he has been using to fund his education and more.

I, the writer, can very well remember that on Friday December 6, 2019, which turned out to be Farmer’s Day, I jokingly posted on my WhatsApp status that I will soon be the best farmer and the moment you saw it, I received it. a response from Hakim that; “I work tirelessly to win the next best farmer for years to come.” With Hard Work, Determination and Perseverance, you have accomplished it within a year of making that statement. All we can tell you is Congratulations and Ayekoo for being the youngest to achieve such a feat. For being an inspiration to many youth and young people in agriculture and for those who have not yet ventured into agriculture, we thank you for being an inspiration to us. We say keep doing more for Mother Ghana and we look forward to seeing you win the Best National Farmers Award and sell Ghana internationally. Mother Ghana is proud of you. Congratulations and Ayekoo once again.
