The campaign manager of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Peter Mac Manu, has urged the NDC to go to court if they have qualms about the results of the 2020 elections.
The NDC has been demonstrating and protesting against the results of the December elections just ended since it was announced by the Election Commission.
President Akufo-Addo, standard bearer of the PNP, was declared the winner of the presidential elections after obtaining 6,730,587 votes (51.3%), while the competitor and standard bearer of the NDC John Dramani Mahama accumulated 6,213,182 (47.3% ).
But since President Akufo-Addo’s declaration weeks ago as the winner of the election, the NDC has refused to admit defeat, claiming that the election was rigged to favor the PNP.
The main opposition party has embarked on numerous demonstrations and protests across the country as a sign of its dissatisfaction with the results announced by the Ghana Election Commission.
But at a press conference, Peter Mac Manu urged the NDC to go to court and challenge the decision if they have a problem with the election results.
He believes that summoning his supporters to embark on demonstrations across the country disturbs the public peace and will not change anything, but a court of competent jurisdiction is the right source to challenge the decision.
According to Mr. Manu, the NDC has refused to go to court because they have no case or evidence to support their claims, prompting its supporters to hold demonstrations that endanger the lives of other people’s children while they yours enjoy comfortably in the most mansions. “
In the Techiman South parliamentary seat, Peter Mac Manu stated that the PNP parliamentary candidate, Martin Agyei Mensah, won the seat with 49,682 votes to 49,205 votes for Christian Baayire of the NDC.
