The Wenchi High Court will render its verdict on the Sene West parliamentary electoral dispute on December 17, 2020.

The petition was presented to the court by the New Patriotic Party (PNP) parliamentary candidate, Joseph Markay Kuma, after he expressed dissatisfaction with the electoral irregularities in the constituency.

The party requested a court order on the declaration of the parliamentary results in order to review the results of the elections in the constituency.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for the North Tongu constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has indicated that the NDC won the parliamentary seat for the Techiman South and Sene West constituencies.

According to him, the NDC has won 138 instead of 136 parliamentary seats as intended by the Electoral Commission (EC).

Mr. Ablakwa, however, warned the EC to respect the decision of the voters.

He said, “respect the verdict and the mandate of the people. Do not usurp the will of the people. We have the majority. We have 138. Techiman South and Sene West belong to the NDC. We have won convincingly. “

“If you want us to cooperate at the inauguration, at midnight on January 6, 2021, please allow us to elect our Speaker. That the Majority be granted its due as far as the Constitution is concerned, “he added.

In this sense, the Attorneys of Joseph Markay Kuma withdrew their appeal for amparo on the statement of results presented in their petition.

However, the court awarded a cost of ¢ 6,000 to the PNP parliamentary candidate for withdrawing his request for precautionary measure.
