The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) says its interim results indicate that the party has changed some 36 parliamentary seats across the country.

According to the party’s Director of Elections, the feat is historic, as some of these seats will be filled by the NDC for the first time in the 4th Republic.

At a press conference in the early hours of Tuesday, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah announced that in the Greater Accra region, the NDC won the parliamentary seats of Krowor, Ledzekuku, La Dade-Kotopon, Tema East, Adenta, Madina, Ablekuma Central and Okaikwe North. .

These seats are currently held by representatives of the ruling New Patriotic Party (PNP).

In giving more details, Mr. Ankrah said that the electoral districts of Ayensuano, Upper Manya and Akwatia in the eastern region were also won by the NDC.

In the Western Region, he said the NDC has won the electoral district seats of Amenfi East, Prestea Huni Valley, Jomoro and Evalejura.

Central Region constituencies such as Ekumfi, Upper Denkyira West, Awutu Senya West, Cape Coast North, Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese, Twifo Atimokwa, Asikuma Odoben Brakwa and Gomoah West have also been changed by the NDC, he added.

In the Ahafo region, Jaman North and Dormaa West have been invested, while Jaman South and Tano South in the Bono region have been won by the NDC, the party’s Director of Elections said.

Other key areas include North and South Nkoranza, North and South Techiman, both in the East Bono Region, and Sefwi Wiawso in the North West Region.

“99 percent of these figures are not skirt and blouse votes, so it is reflected in the presidential race,” Afriyie Ankrah added.

With the vote counting still in progress, the NDC Director of Elections admonished party supporters not to allow premature celebrations but to remain vigilant.

“We charge all of our counting and collation agents to be vigilant and alert in the last hours of the count to ensure and protect the overwhelming victory that lies ahead.”

We also charge all the supporters of our party to go to the different collation centers to guarantee that the will and mandate of the people are not stolen. “

The Democratic National Congress needs to secure a total of 32 seats in addition to the current 106 to acquire a majority in Parliament.
