New Patriotic Party (NPP) national chairman Freddie Blay says the 2020 general election results declared by the Electoral Commission indicate a balancing phase in Ghana’s growing democracy.
“After 28 years of democratic practice under the Fourth Republic, the 2020 general elections, including its pre-election and post-election activities, point to the fact that Ghanaians yearn for more from democratic governance.
“They seek greater accountability from us, who could be described as political and are the main key stakeholders in our democratic efforts,” he said.
In his Christmas message seen by JoyNews, Freddie Blay congratulated the Democratic National Congress (NDC) for presenting a great competition in the recently concluded 2020 general elections.
Meanwhile, the PNP president is confident that the president-elect, Nana Akufo-Addo, will deliver more and continue his good works as promised.
“His Excellency the President and President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, remains determined to fulfill the party’s commitments to the good people of Ghana. Let us trust and support the continuation of his good works, and we know as part that we will deliver more and more solidly to the satisfaction of all Ghanaians. “
Freddie Blay believes that next year marks a new chapter for the country’s democratic development, which is more focused on meeting the basic needs of the population in an equitable environment.
“We must continue to appreciate and safeguard Ghana’s pillars of development; peace, tolerance, dialogue, agreement and collaboration. These remain the only guarantee for the progress, growth, stability and prosperity that we all wish for our nation and its people, ”he wrote.
According to him, the progress and development signaled by the acting government were hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic, yet he remains determined that the next PNP administration will eradicate all complaints filed by the pandemic.
“On behalf of the great New Patriotic Party (PNP), I wish to take this opportunity to express my deepest condolences to those who may have lost loved ones, especially due to Covid-19 and the unfortunate excesses and incidents of the 2020 general elections ”.

NEW YEAR’S MESSAGE FOR THE WINS OF THE NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF THE PNP, HON. FREDDIE BLAY
The holiday season provided us with an opportunity to reflect on our lives and remind ourselves of the value of the gift of life. Every life is precious and we, as citizens of Ghana, must prioritize the safety of our individual lives by acting responsibly in our behaviors and celebrations.
2020 marked a difficult period in the modern history of the world and for the global economy. Uncertainties, anxiety, fear and the loss of life of friends, family and freedom of movement characterized the year as a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic. Ghanaians also suffered their fair share of the pain, hardships, restrictions, and hardships caused by COVID-19.
As a nation, we have been fortunate not to be among the destinations most affected by the pandemic in the world. On the contrary, Ghana, through the support and cooperation of its patriotic citizens, vigilant CSOs, critical opposition, traditional authorities, business community and the capable leadership of HE Nana AddoDankwaAkufoAddo and his Vice, have been an inspiration to their neighbors and the continent in general. . Thank the Almighty for his mercies, guidance, wisdom and protection.
The 2020 general election that just ended was a big contest. Congratulations to the Democratic National Congress (NDC) and their leadership for putting up a great competition. The outcome of the parliamentary elections, in particular, demonstrates a balancing phase of Ghana’s growing democracy and the need for all political parties to work together.
After 28 years of democratic practice under the Fourth Republic, the 2020 general elections, including their pre-election and post-election activities, signal the fact that Ghanaians yearn for more from democratic governance. They are seeking greater accountability from us, who could be described as political and are the main key stakeholders in our democratic efforts.
While Ghanaians have certainly backed the continuation of the current political administration with more than 500,000 electoral votes more than the NDC, they also call for a fair balance in development, the use of power and the sharing of the national pie. This is exactly what Ghanaian politicians, mostly our MPs, should commit to work on in 2021.
Next year should mark a new chapter for our democratic development, which focuses more on meeting the basic needs of the population in an equitable environment.
The challenges of this generation in building a nation that works for all certainly differ from what our ancestors experienced even before our struggle for independence. However, one thing that remains constant is that the people of Ghana have always emerged stronger and better after our difficult times.
All well-meaning Ghanaians continue to agree to stand together as one people despite our differences and the difficulties we may face as a country. Therefore, after a highly politically charged environment experienced in 2020 amid COVID-19, the year 2021 should be our year of national healing, reconciliation, and goodness among us.
We must continue to appreciate and safeguard Ghana’s pillars of development; peace, tolerance, dialogue, agreement and collaboration. These remain the only guarantee for the progress, growth, stability and prosperity that we all wish for our nation and its people.
As we enter the new year, let us all, as Ghanaians, resolve to work diligently to improve our systems of democratic governance and political stability; constantly improving the economy amid COVID-19; and expanding infrastructure and access to more government social interventions. Let us be brave enough to admit our limitations and face the fundamental challenges of our democratic system of government.
Let’s build a democracy that systematically provides development that has a positive impact on the general population and is directly beneficial to the masses. Therefore, let us unite and move forward as one people, because in unity lies our strength and greatness as a nation.
His Excellency the President and President-elect, Nana AddoDankwaAkufoAddo, remains determined to fulfill the party’s commitments to the good people of Ghana. Let us trust and support the continuation of his good works, and we know as part that we will deliver more and more solidly to the satisfaction of all Ghanaians.
On behalf of the great New Patriotic Party (PNP), I wish to take this opportunity to express my deepest condolences to those who may have lost loved ones especially to COVID-19 and the regrettable excesses and incidents of the 2020 general elections.
Season’s greetings and happy new year to all Ghanaians.

Hon. Freddie Blay
