2020 Election Live Updates: NDC and NPP Discuss Alleged Bribery Video Involving Akufo-Addo

There is an ongoing debate between the two main political parties over a video that has surfaced that shows President Nana Akufo-Addo receiving money.

The NDC says it is a bribe, while the NPP has responded that it is a donation for the party’s 2016 campaign.

At a press conference on Wednesday, the largest opposition party said the president accepted a $ 40,000 bribe from the Urban Roads Director’s wife to keep him in office.

But the ruling party has dismissed this, saying it is another attempt by the NDC to hang on to the straws leading up to the December election.

The party’s deputy campaign manager, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, told a news conference Wednesday that the video is manipulated to fit the narrative that is spreading.

Joining the fray, the Alliance for Social Equity and Public Responsibility (ASEPA) has dragged President Akufo-Addo to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).
