NDC Secretary General Johnson Asiedu Nketia submitted the nomination forms on behalf of John Mahama.

A delegation from the opposition Democratic National Congress (NDC) submitted nominations for the candidacy on behalf of the standard-bearer, John Dramani Mahama, to participate in the December elections.

The group, led by Secretary General Johnson Asiedu Nketia, presented the documents at the Electoral Commission (EC) offices in Accra.

Addressing the delegation during the presentation, EC President Jean Mensah expressed disappointment at the absence of the flag bearer or his running mate to carry out the activity personally.

He explained that the physical presence of John Mahama would have given him the opportunity to address some issues raised by the latter before the elections.

“As a committee, we would have wished that NDC flag bearer John Dramani Mahama or his vice president, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, had been here personally to present their nomination forms, as it would have allowed us to participate, in particular the former president. about some of his concerns that he has raised in the media, ”he said on October 7, 2020.

In response to Jean Mensah’s claim, the NDC general secretary indicated that her concerns are unfounded.

Johnson Asiedu Nketia said JoyNews‘Kwesi Parker-Wilson upon leaving the EC offices that no law requires the flagger to be physically present.

He added that nothing prevents the president of the EC from writing to Mr. Mahama to formally invite him if she thinks there are pending points to settle.

“She can always do that if she wants to. Are you telling us that you do not know the content of the regulations that have been given to us, that a standard-bearer can come or can you choose your representatives to come?

“Have you written to the flagger to come and address some concerns?” I ask.

According to the Commission’s schedule, presidential and parliamentary candidates for the general elections on December 7, 2020 must submit their nominations from Monday, October 5 to Friday, October 9.
