The Electoral Commission (EC) may organize a voting session for authorized presidential candidates on Wednesday, October 14, an EC source revealed to the Ghana News Agency.
Depending on the decision of the Information Technology and Technical Committee recommendations, the Commission may not organize the vote, but instead use the ‘first come, first served’ mode to place the candidate on the ballot voting, also revealed the source.
According to the source, the Commission over the years has used voting or the timing of applicants submitting their nomination forms to determine their positions.
The GNA source said that the committee was at the end of the job and could disqualify some of the applicants due to different signatures on both the voter registration and the nomination forms, raising questions about the legitimacy of those signatures.
The next process after sorting the positioning on the ballot would be the printing of the ballots.
The EC ended the submission of nominations on Friday, October 9, in which a total of 17 presidential hopefuls came forward to compete for the December 2020 presidential elections.
Three of the presidential hopefuls who submitted the nominations hope to run as independent candidates when approved by the EC, while 14 are political party candidates.
The process, which began on Monday, included the presentation of three applicants on Tuesday, two on Wednesday, seven on Thursday and five on Friday, which was the close of the year.
