The Multimedia Group will perform en masse at the 2019 Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards scheduled for Saturday 24 October.

In total, 11 journalists and four brands of the group; Joy News, Asempa FM, Adom and Nhyira FM will be honored.

The 10 journalists from the group to be honored are Emefa Apawu, Albert Sore, Komla Adom, Sampson Lardy Ayenini, Nancy Emefa Dzradosi, Prince Appiah, all from Joy News, David Andoh from myjoyonline.com and Kojo Aborampa, Samuel Alfred Amoh, Efia Amankwah Tamakloe and Kwame Anum from Adom TV.

These are 625 and 75 physical and online entries received by the GJA Secretariat respectively for competitive and non-competitive prizes.

The journalists will receive their awards at the ceremony, which would culminate on 25th edition of the awards program, at the Movenpick Ambassadors Hotel in Accra.

In announcing the list of honorees on Monday, the chair of the awards committee, Betty Appau-Oppong, maintained that this year’s edition was to ‘identify journalists who had distinguished themselves in their various fields of practice in 2019, as well as to those who stood out this year (2020) by reporting on the coronavirus pandemic.

This year’s ceremony is themed “Covid-19 and a credible presidential and parliamentary election.”

On the sidelines of the short ceremony to announce the winners, GJA President Roland Affail Monney congratulated the nominees and urged those who submitted stories but were not shortlisted to work hard in order to win next year.
