The Upper East region has recorded 10 more cases of Covid-19, the respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus.
This brings the total number of cases in the region to 18, with one death.
The regional correspondent for Health Service JoyNews is preparing the 10 cases for admission to a treatment center, Albert Sore reported Tuesday.
According to the journalist, Bolga, Kassena Nankana and Pusiga have registered new cases, bringing the total number of municipalities with confirmed cases to five.
The situational report also indicated that six of the new cases are contacts of two previously confirmed cases in Bolga and Bawku.
“Two of the new cases are contacts of confirmed cases on international flights to Ghana. Two of the 10 new cases were detected by routine surveillance in the municipalities of Kassena Nankana and Pusiga, “said the report.
The six cases, as well as the one translocated to Accra, that are already admitted are clinically stable and respond to treatment.
So far, says the Health Service, more than 300 contacts have been followed.
New cases in the Upper East have yet to be added to the national count, which currently stands at 1,550 with 155 recoveries and 11 deaths.
Greater Accra remains the epicenter of Ghana with 1,347 cases. The Ashanti region has 69, Eastern 57, Oti 17, Central 17, Northern 13, Volta 10, Upper West 8, North East 2, Western 1 and Western North 1.
