The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Congress has approved fees for the association’s leadership as recommended by the Frederick Moore committee.

The three-man committee that had Delali Senaye (Inter Allies CEO) and Sampson Nartey-Yoe (financial consultant and speaker) as members proposed that President Kurt Okraku receive a monthly salary of GH ₵ 12,000, Vice President GH ₵ 7,000 Mark Addo and GH ₵ 4,000 each for the rest of the Executive Council (ExCo).

Other emoluments, such as allowances of $ 500 and $ 400 per day for foreign travel for the president and vice president, respectively, were also proposed to the FA’s decision-making body.

For ExCo members, $ 300 was suggested for their trips abroad.

In addition, a £ 1,600 GH sitting allowance for ExCo was presented to Congress. These proposals were met with objections from a section of Congress headed by JF Mensah and Alhaji Grusah.

However, members voted in favor of the recommendations, when they reached a consensus that well-paid leadership would produce better job performance for Ghana’s football development.

Congress also approved a committee decision to end ex gratia payments to Executive Council members as previously practiced.

As reported by Joy Sports last month, the Executive Council prefers Baker Tilly Andah & Andah as its audit firm.

The ExCo proposed the audit firm which scored 35 points with the comment of ‘even though the firm submitted the second highest audit fee [GH₵ 45,000], had the global auditing experience, as well as the only company with experience in auditing sports and football ”.

“The company has a reputable name in the audit industry in Ghana and they are offering a very competitive price,” GFA noted.

Congress unanimously approved Baker Tilly as its auditor for the next three years.

The budget for October 26, 2019 to June 30, 2020 was also ratified and the GHS 71 million budget for the next financial year was approved.

Nana Yaw Amponsah, CEO of Asante Kotoko expressed about the budgeted spending, saying that they cannot spend without saving.

But, Vice President Mark Addo said they wanted more if the finances were available.
