Although this phrase is widely used to encourage and sometimes excuse ongoing documentation of your daily and extraordinary activities, in practice it leads to plugging in all the time.
The company in Salt Lake City has taken it upon itself to give a respite of tech to one lucky applicant in the form of a 48-hour dream time.
No signal
The randomly selected winner will be rewarded for 48 hours without technology of any kind.
Satellite Internet reimburses the winner for an RV rental (and meal) up to $ 1000.
The person who wins will receive $ 1000 for unlocking all social media, logging out of Slack and emailing and Twitter.
Catching it – or is it the bonus? – is that the 48 hours must take place in an RV (and its environs) in a U.S. national park. The RV will not be delivered, but the cost to rent (up to $ 1000) will be reimbursed, separate from the $ 1000 for completing the detox.
Staff researcher Tim Tincher says they did something similar last year, but the winner had to stay in Joshua Tree National Park, not pick from the American parks.
Tincher says, “We know staying connected is more important than ever, but that does not mean we are still too much screen time.”
Great outside
Although Covid-19 has led to a return to nature and an appreciation for the great outdoors, people on Satellite Internet say “we wanted to find a way to help someone tune into the world and get back into nature,” “because it’s one thing to go for a walk and all your social media followers know that you’re become one with nature and it’s another thing to go for a walk and leave your whispering phone behind.
The winner of the digital detox weekend can choose which national park they want.

The selected detoxer must be 25 years of age or older, have a valid driver’s license and be eligible to work in the US. A winner will be chosen on September 23, 2020, at 11:59 p.m .; travel days are for the individual.
Technology will be allowed to reach the destination – and any national park can be chosen – but once the RV campground is accessible, the phone and computer and some other technical pieces will be yours enslaved accustomed to, will be prohibited.
However, the winner does not have to encourage the elements alone. Tincher says they are free to bring whoever they choose with.
At the end of the 48-hour digital detox, Satellite Internet will provide a mobile hotspot for you to share your digital detox experience online.
