Genshin Impact launches September 28 on PC, Android and iOS

Genshin Impact, the free-to-play open world action RPG in development at Chinese studio miHoYo, has just been confirmed to be scheduled for September 28 on PC, Android, and iOS. The PlayStation 4 version will have to wait until this fall, while the developer confirmed to Wccftech that the Nintendo Switch version is still working, but has no date yet. Furthermore, we have learned that there are no plans for a Steam release – you need to download the PC version of the game directly from the launcher of miHoYo, available on the official site.

Whether compared to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for its fairly similar art style, Genshin Impact made our impression in our beta hands-on. Here’s what Nate had to say:

Death end re; Quest 2 (PS4) Review – Horrific Trauma Wraped In A Cute RPG Package

I did not expect much from Genshin Impact, but I found myself surprisingly preoccupied with their world, to the point that I honestly prefer sadness, I will have to stop playing when the beta ends. If a mix of Breath of the Wild and Bandai Namco’s Tales series sounds interesting to you, or you just want some BOTW flavor without buying a Switch, this game is on your radar. Sure, there are still some rough edges, and I’m a little worried about how the game will monetize, but Genshin Impact left one on me.

The game will have both single-player and a cross-platform cooperative mode for up to four players. Over time, miHoYo promises to add more cities, more stories, and characters, as well as seasonal events through live service updates.

In Teyvat’s world, you have control over seven natural elements – Pyro, Hydro, Electro, Anemo, and Dendro, to name a few. Through unique relics called Visions, characters have unique powerful abilities that you can unleash to advance powerful enemies and interact with the world.

You have complete freedom to customize, mix and match a party of up to 4 characters with their various elements. You can switch mid-combat between your party members to combine different elemental effects, causing powerful elemental reactions (yes, think chemistry class, but bigger). We wanted to create a game that could embrace the spirit of discovery and experimentation. The more you know about the elements and use them to your advantage, the more they will reward you in your adventure.

You can expect a roster of more than 20 unique characters this fall (with many more on the way). We know you’ll be coming up with really cool team compositions and new ways to use elemental powers that even our designers did not think of!

While you have complete control over your entire party playing solo, we wanted to give you the option to collaborate with up to 3 other friends (we love options). Playing co-op means more teamwork, more elemental reactions, and more challenges to overcome.
