There is a notable lack of decent Android tablets. It is a market segment that once flourished several years ago: Google even launched an exclusive version for Android tablets, Android 3.0 Honeycomb, in 2011. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich maintained the user interface of this tablet, but slowly lost the favor during the years when Android tablets fell out of fashion Today, there are hardly any decent Android alternatives to tablets, like the iPad or the Microsoft Surface, but Samsung is still struggling. Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S7 + will now try to compete for a place in the tablet market.
The device is configured to pack all the horsepower we expect from Samsung’s flagships – this is a flagship tablet, after all. The Galaxy Tab S7 series will feature a Snapdragon 865 Plus processor, which was recently released by Qualcomm and is already bundled with various devices, including the ASUS ROG Phone 3 and Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 5G. The device also features a 120Hz QHD display just like the S20 line, but there is one notable catch: while S20 phones went up to QHD and 120Hz, you couldn’t have both at the same time. It is unclear whether this will also be the case with the Galaxy Tab S7. There will be two screen sizes: an 11-inch Tab S7 with an LCD panel (and a side fingerprint sensor) and a 12.7-inch Tab S7 + with an AMOLED panel (and an on-screen fingerprint sensor).
The device also has support for wireless DeX, which means you can use it as a desktop computer. It will have at least 6GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB of storage, which is good, and that new RAM technology would be interesting to experiment with. You can also expand storage to another TB through the microSD card slot. The cameras are no wonder, with a dual 13MP plus 5MP wide-angle shooter at the rear and an 8MP camera at the front. However, it does record 4K video. The battery sits at 7,040 mAh for the smallest model and 10,090 mAh for the largest, along with fast charging speeds of up to 45W with a separate charger. The devices will also be available in 5G-compatible variants. The tablet series will also come with an improved S Pen stylus, likely to be advertised for its 9ms latency; and DeX wireless mode.
