Updated at 7:30 p.m.: Improved to include Denton County information.

Dallas County reported 360 coronavirus cases on Sunday – 127 new and 233 cases reported from previous months, as the state continues to try to catch a backlog of cases.

The county also announced a new death: a Dallas woman in her 70s who had internal health problems and died in an area hospital.

The new numbers bring the county’s total number to 71,170 cases – or 27 for every 1,000 residents – and 901 deaths.

The county said 233 cases were reported in the previous months, including 88 from April, 64 from May, 72 from June, four from July and eight from August. Five cases came from March, which the county said could be due to a date entry error by the lab.

From Aug. 8 to 21, the county said, 393 children aged 5 to 18 were diagnosed with COVID-19. According to the county, about half of them were high school age.

A total of 75,759 new cases were reported in Texas on Sunday, with more than 90 deaths, according to the state’s Covid-1d dashboard. Texas has 610,354 confirmed cases and a total of 12,510 fatalities reported. According to the dashboard, an estimated 499,518 people have recovered and an estimated 98,326 active cases.

But the county says the state has acknowledged that the county’s active case count has “significantly increased.”

“We advise residents that Colin County lacks confidence in the data currently being provided to us,” the county said in a note on its dashboard.
