Former Union Minister Jaswant Singh passed away in Delhi this morning. He was 82 years old.
Jaswant Singh, who hails from Rajasthan, served as India’s foreign minister, defense minister and finance minister. He was an officer in the Indian Army in the 1950s and 60s, but later resigned to pursue a career in politics.
He died at 6:55 a.m. today at the Army Hospital (Research and Referral) in Delhi, where he was admitted in June. “It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic death of the Hon’ble Major Jaswant Singh (Retd.) On 27 September 2020 at 0655 hrs for the term of the Cabinet Minister of the Government of India. Sepsis was treated. Multitorgan dysfunction syndrome and chronic (dtted) effects of severe head injury were cardiac arrest this morning, “the hospital said in a statement.
“Despite the best efforts of the team of experts present to win him back, he could not be resurrected and he passed away on September 27, 2020 at 0655 hrs. His covid condition is negative,” he added.
In a tweet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the experienced BJP leader had served our country as a soldier before and after his long tenure in politics. “Jaswant Sinha G. served our nation diligently, first as a soldier and later during a long engagement in politics.
