Former Miss America Lianza Cornet has died at the age of 49 after she was hospitalized in Jacksonville with a head injury and was treated less than three weeks ago.

The tragic news came from Lanza Cornet’s Facebook page called Circle Love F Love, which updated her friends and fans about her health.

Page Administrator Sue Roberts writes, ‘Disney Dear Family, Dear Lonza, I’m here to let you know this afternoon. She was very much in love. I don’t feel like writing much right now; My heart is broken. ‘

The Miss America organization then shared an update announcing a death on her Facebook and said that ‘there was a bright and beautiful spirit and her laughter was contagious.’

The organization added: ‘We know she means a lot to a lot of people, including you. We are surrounded by this sudden loss in our Miss America family and we apologize for her loss to her family and close friends.

‘Right now, we have no further information regarding the service for Leanza and we ask you to please respect her family during this difficult time. Hold on to the one you love today. Time is definitely precious. ‘

Cornet suffered a head injury on October 12, according to the Circle Love page.

Cornett was married to Mark Steins from 1995 to 2013. She is survived by two sons, Avery Steins, 16, and Kai Steins, 18.

“With this heavy heart, I share with your ex-wife, the mother of Leanza, the lives of our two extraordinary sons, Kai and Avery,” Mark Steins wrote on Instagram. ‘We will always remember the wonderful time we shared here on earth during his short time. I know Kai and Avery will always be excellent guardian angels when they find their way to life.

‘I ask that you please keep them as well as Leanza’s parents and her family in your prayers.’
