Former Disney employee accused of stealing $ 160K through alleged refund scheme

A former Walt Disney World employee is accused of stealing thousands of dollars in what investigators described as a scheme in which she misdirected money issued for theme park ticket refunds to a personal account.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) agents arrested Jennifer Alejandra Insuasti, 32, of Kissimmee, on a robbery charge of $ 100,000 or more, a first-degree felony. Insuasti turned himself in on Monday morning.

According to the FDLE, Insuasti fraudulently obtained more than $ 160,000 from his former employer through his work, which involved addressing complaints from park visitors. Most complaints are sometimes resolved by offering free refunds or tickets.

“Agents discovered that, on numerous occasions, by using old reimbursement accounts as coverage, she misdirected money to her personal account or the accounts of her friends,” said an FDLE statement. “The guests still received their refunds, but the money was stolen directly from their former employer.”

Insuasti was booked into the Osceola County Jail on bail of $ 100,000. The investigation will be processed by the Ashley Moody’s Nation’s Attorney General.
