Former Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant to work out for Ravens, in talks with several teams, per report

Dez Bryant is determined to get back in the NFL, and it looks like he might get a shot at achieving that mission by 2020. The record-setting former Dallas Cowboys star receiver has been out of the game since he was a novella Achilles suffered in November 2018, shortly after signing with the New Orleans Saints following an unexpected release by the Cowboys in April. Bryant has been back to full health for some time, but initially chose to sit out a little longer while working through permitted field battles with depression and anxiety. Later in 2019, he declared himself ready to return, and lobbied teams – specifically the Cowboys – to give him a shot, and the Baltimore Ravens came knocking again.

The three-time Pro Bowler will reportedly go to Baltimore for a training session, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, because the team has shown a second interest in Bryant. The first came after he was shown the door in Dallas when the Ravens Bryant offered a multi-year deal, but he knew it at the time – before signing a one-year deal with the Saints.

Bryant’s reasoning at the time was simple, as he noted in January.

“[The Ravens] did not want that [version of] Dez Bryant, ” he wrote in response to a Ravens fan who pointed out the aforementioned previous offer. “I was not there mentally.”

He is now, however, and despite his desire to return ‘home’ to the Cowboys, he listed the Ravens as one of three ‘dream’ destinations in his bid to return to the NFL.

“My dream goals: I want to adapt in the blue and silver, the black and gold as black and purple,” he said.

It remains to be seen how the training will end with the Ravens, but it’s a charged crime that could be so much more if Bryant is added, considering he’s back in great physical shape and is struggling at the bit to help however he can. He declared long ago that he no longer wants to be a starter, but instead a participant, who could serve coach John Harbaugh and reigning league MVP Lamar Jackson very well.

“I feel good,” a smiling Bryant said in a recent off-the-cuff interview with Fox 4 Dallas’ Mike Doocy earlier this offseason. “I’m just grinding. I’m just at work and trying to get it back. I love it. My vibe is right.

“I’m just trying to get back on that field and make some plays. I miss the score of touchdowns.”
